David West of the Hornets took the biggest hit out of the recent injuries.
We are almost at the end of January and it has been a terrible month for some teams. The injury bug is now into full effect as it's bitten quite a bit of teams in
the league now. Six teams have taken some pretty big hits now.
We all now of the Spencer Hawes of Boston getting hurt earlier in the season. Good news for the Celts is that he'll be back in less than a month now. And they could certainly
use Hawes too so that he can further develop his game along with his teammates Rudy Gay and David Lee.
We're also well aware of Indiana's injury when they lost their young stud in Andre Iguodala for the next 6 months. They could use him too as they Pacers have lost 12 of their last
13 games. No one on the Pacers can step up effectively and take the role as "the man" on the team.
Moving to the next injury, we have Gilbert Arenas of the Charlotte Bobcats that will miss the next month and 9 days. In the Bobcats first game without Arenas, they edged out the Indiana Pacers
on the road. Amare Stoudamire led the way as he was 1 block away from a triple double going for 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 blocked shots.
Rookie sensation Eric Gordon will miss a little under 3 months due to a broken foot. Just when things couldn't get any worse for Washington, their leading scorer goes down. Though the Wizards got just
their 5th win of the season by taking down the best team in the West, the Phoenix Suns. Mo Pete led the team with 19 points and Daniel Gibson added in 15 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
Brandon Roy led the Warriors over the Cavs with an outstanding 55 point performance at home in a 124-128 win, but it wasn't all good as Roy went down with an injury. It didn't appear to be bad at first,
but when the MRI came back, tests showed that it was indeed bad as he'll miss the remainder of the season, the next 8 months. Though the Warriors pulled out a win over the Clippers to extend their winning streak to
7 games. Players like Chandler, Marion, and Augustine will have to step up if the Warriors want to hang on in the post season.
And finally, the last injury and longest injury, happened to New Orleans' David West as he'll miss the remainder of the season, a little under a full year. While the injury was a major hit to the organization,
since the Hornets have incredible depth, they could still hang onto the a top 4 seed in the post season. With a bench of Charlie Villanueva, Hedo Turkoglu, and Stephen Jackson that could all play the position, things
don't appear to be as bad as other teams. We tried to get a word from General Manager Matt Pipsair, but couldn't get in contact with him. The Hornets got their first win without West against a young 76ers team.
In other news, General Manager, Evan Rosen of the Memphis Grizzlies had a busy day as he made a couple of trades. The first one being with the Denver Nuggets in which he sent Chauncey Billups and Lamar Odom in exchange for
TJ Ford, Al Harrington, Chris Duhon, and Kris Humphries. About three minutes later, he dealt Rasheed Wallace to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Wally Szczerbiak and Ricky Davis. The team appears to be in a rebuilding state
as the team got off to a really bad start. It appears Rosen was clearing players from the team for OJ Mayo to take the throne as the main man in Memphis sometime soon. We'll see how things go.
NOTE FROM NORMAN: I will be simming the last two days of January before Brandon takes over the simming of February. Please PM me all DCs for the time being.
